Mrs Huckerby's Retirement

When someone leaves a community such as ours they leave a big space in our lives but also a big part of themselves here too. Today we have met together to say a huge goodbye and thank you to Mrs Huckerby who has been a part of Cradley School for over 15 years. She joined the school as a parent when her owngirls were small and has worked as a teaching assistant, one to one support, swimming teacher, PE teacher, Forest School leader and lunchtime supervisor.

Mrs Huckerby has worked across all ages in school and has shared her love of everything physical with us from circuits to netball coaching and choreography. Mrs Huckerby will be remembered for her enthusiasm, her patience and her Cradley team spirit. Mrs Huckerby has accompanied so many teams to fixtures, bell boating, been on residential, taught dances for the end of year play, led aerobics sessions, as well as supporting children to learn to read, write and with their Maths.

Mrs Huckerby is one of the most patient people I know. I have observed her trying to teach a concept to a child who just didn’t get it and talk a child with special needs out of a frenzy and stopped them running away from school.

We are all going to miss her very much and although she is officially retiring I am sure it won’t be long before she is exploring new adventures. Thank you, Mrs Huckerby, for everything you have done for all the children at Cradley School over the years. We wish you well and hope you have a long and fun filled retirement.

Love from Mrs Jones and all of the staff and children at Cradley School
