SCHOOL GOVERNORS

The governing body has a range of duties and powers and a general responsibility for the conduct of the school with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement including setting targets for pupil achievement, managing the school's finances, making sure the curriculum is balanced and broadly based, appointing staff and reviewing staff performance and pay and many more.

The governing body has considerable discretion as to how to discharge its responsibilities but is required to constitute itself in line with the regulations and to appoint a chair and vice chair. The governing body may delegate certain of its responsibilities to certain governors or committees of governors, although in general, it is not compelled to do so.

The Ethos Statement, taken from the School's Instrument of Government, states:

"Recognising its historic foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the Church at parish and diocesan level.

The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality with the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promotes values through the experience it offers to all its pupils."

The Governors can be contacted either by email, through the contact page on this site, or via the School Office.

It is a requirement to publish a Register of Governors and their Interests. We have also published a Committee Structure.

The School is governed by the following Governors, assisted by the Clerk, Fran Lennon :

I’m Anne-Marie – firstly mother to Darcey in Year 5. I juggle full time work for KPMG, some of the week in London some of the week at home. Being a parent governor is all about being representative of the parents. I’d like to think I can easily represent those families who are juggling, who have expectations about the standard of learning they want for my child, balanced with a healthy dose of fun and other activities to broaden them. I want to give the school that extra horsepower and some constructive challenge to make it an even better place. And the kids are great to be around – they have some amazing viewpoints we should listen to. I’m really fortunate that KPMG actively encourages their employees to be parent governors, so am well supported by a network which means we can share ideas.

I have been a governor since I became Rector of Cradley with Mathon and Storridge in 2007. As Cradley is a church school, it rather goes with the job! For the first three or four years I was Chair of Governors, and since then have been one of the Vice-Chairs in support of Eryl Copp: and now am a member of the governors' committee dealing with Children, Families and Community. I see this as an important aspect of my care and concern for the people of the parish, particularly the younger ones. I did train as a teacher myself more than thirty years ago, and worked in parishes in Bristol and in Milton Keynes before coming to Cradley.

I live in Colwall and both my children attended Cradley school from Reception to Year 6, the last of which left in 2014. I know they both look back on their time at Cradley with fond memories and that they experienced a happy and supportive school environment in which to start their educational lives. I believe that’s what most of us would want for our children. I work for Royal Mail Logistics. I am interested in making the school future proof; ensuring that we have the right people and buildings infrastructure to support the needs of what will be a changing and growing school population.

I have two children at Cradley School, who both enjoy being part of the school. I am passionate about Education and the importance it plays in a child’s life and I wanted to support the school in the part it plays in the development of young minds. I am a teacher myself so bring to the role of governor a knowledge of education and the value it brings to young people both academically and morally.

I moved to Cradley in December 2014 from Berkshire to have a more rural lifestyle, be part of a village community and to be closer to family. I grew up in Malvern and love being back in the countryside. I am married to Jack and we have two young boys. I am a Management Consultant and work for a London firm, but work from home most of the time, which allows me to juggle the commitments of everyday life. I'm passionate about providing opportunity for development for younger generations and look forward to supporting the school.

I am Herefordian by birth but have lived in differing areas of Great Britain during my working life. Many moons ago I qualified as a teacher with the University of Wales and have since had a varied career within the Civil Service. This gave me great opportunities and many skills including:-
• Risk Assessment and Health and Safety training
• Event management
• Staff training and coaching
• Managing small and large offices, including aspects such as premises and budgets
• Customer Service Excellence and IiP
• Leading teams from 6 to 80 people
• Supporting local companies in the three Rs – staff recruitment, retention and redundancy
• LEAN processes and practices
• Presentations to staff and external partner organisations
• Performance management
Now retired (allegedly) I work at the school on a relief basis providing support to breakfast club, after school club and the nursery and on a part time basis as a lunchtime supervisor. I had a wonderful time in the Spring term helping children across the school in the development of their (winning) entry for the Spring Garden show.
My governor role is linked to Class 2; I enjoy spending time with them across different activities and admiring the development and progress of the children.
Away from the school environment, I am a volunteer for Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue. This involves looking after rescue dogs, helping to assess and train them in order to support them into their right “forever” home. I find it extremely rewarding but with emotional highs and lows.
I have lived in the Cradley community for 30 years and my daughter and grandchildren have all been pupils at the school. Paradoxically I can say that I still have a child at Cradley school as my daughter Lauren manages the school’s nursery section.
I maintain a couple of ethics which some may perceive as old fashioned, such as “manners make the the man” and “ if you cannot say something nice don’t say anything at all” but feel that they are still appropriate today. My often used motto is
“ be kind”.

Originally from Manchester, I moved to Hereford in 2009, relocating to Cradley in 2016. I’m married to Elle and have 2 young children. My eldest Charlotte attends the school and my youngest Ben is a future pupil. I work in Hereford as a Facilities Manager looking after multiple buildings ensuring legislation, security and health and safety is adhered too.
